The Chicago Urban League Development Corporation (CULDC), established as a separate corporate entity in 1982, is a HUD-certified counseling agency as well as a City of Chicago Department of Housing Delegate Agency.  We provide low- to moderate-income residents with professional housing counseling assistance through our programs and services.

CULDC offers a variety of counseling and referral services to support homeownership redevelopment efforts in underserved communities.  

Direct Services:

• Housing Counseling is funded by HUD, the City of Chicago Department of Housing and private sources.  These programs provide free professional housing counseling services to low and moderate income residents in the Chicago area. Through our services, prospective first time homebuyers can access first time homebuyer incentive programs, new and existing mortgage loan products, homeowners can learn the responsibilities associated with homeownership, and can save their homes from foreclosure, through counseling and interventions.

• The City of Chicago Department of Housing sponsors the following programs:

      These programs offer housing counseling services in the areas of foreclosure

prevention, mortgage default counseling, first time homebuyers counseling,

predatory lending counseling, rental counseling, landlord/tenant matters and

senior reverse mortgage counseling.

• “National Urban League” (NUL) sponsors the following programs:

These programs have been designed to provide mortgage default/prevention counseling, predatory lending counseling, reverse mortgage counseling, first time homebuyers counseling and foreclosure prevention counseling.  The counseling is done on a one-on-one basis as well as in Workshops/Classes.  These Professional Counseling services are provided by Certified Housing Counselors.    .

• CULDC continually searches for new opportunities in both development project related services and private partnerships for financial support.
